Sewer Camera Inspection

What a sewer camera shows

A small camera on a flexible cable goes into the drain or sewer line, usually through a cleanout.

As it moves down the pipe, the picture shows up on a screen, and you can watch it with us.

We can see roots pushing in at the joints, grease coating the walls and rust scale in old cast iron.

We can see cracks, joints that have slipped out of line and sections that have collapsed.

We can also see bellies, which are low spots where the pipe sags and holds water instead of draining it.

Instead of guessing from the symptoms, we look at the actual pipe.

What it covers

Sewer Camera Inspection, covered end to end.

  1. 01

    Roots at the joints

Fine roots slip into a joint and grow into a mat. The camera shows where they get in and how thick they are.

  2. 02

    Grease and buildup

Grease and soap scum narrow a line from the inside. The camera shows how much room the water has left.

  3. 03

    Rust scale in cast iron

Old cast iron flakes and scales as it rusts. We can see whether the pipe wall is rough, flaking or solid.

  4. 04

    Cracks and broken pipe

A cracked or broken section shows on the screen. That tells us a clog is really a pipe problem.

  5. 05

    Bellies and low spots

A sag in the line holds water and waste. The camera shows where the pipe dips and fails to drain.

  6. 06

    Offset or collapsed pipe

A joint that slipped or a section that caved in blocks the flow. We can see what the line is doing.

The honest answer

Why look before you dig or cut

Opening a floor or a yard is the most disruptive part of any drain repair.

The camera lets us find the problem section first, so only that section gets opened.

It also tells a clog from a broken pipe.

A clog gets cleaned.

A broken pipe needs repair, and cleaning will not fix it.

On old pipe, we run the camera before jetting, so a weak section never gets hit with high-pressure water.

It is also worth asking about before you buy an older home, since a sewer line is out of sight until it fails.

What we tend to find in Miami lines

Many older Miami homes still drain through the original cast-iron pipe, and some of it runs under the slab.

Cast iron rusts from the inside, scales over and can eventually rust through.

Large trees and wet ground send roots toward any joint that has opened up.

Heavy summer rain puts extra load on a tired line and can show a weak spot for the first time.

A camera look is the plain way to learn what shape the line is in, whether the home is older or newer.

Questions

Sewer Camera Inspection questions.

Still wondering? Call (305) 834-1588, any hour.

Will the camera show where the problem is?

It shows which section of the line has the problem and what is wrong with it.

That lets us plan the repair around that section, not the whole run.

Can I watch what the camera sees?

Yes.

The picture shows on a screen while the camera moves, and we point out what we find as we go.

Do you need a cleanout to run the camera?

A cleanout is the easiest way in.

If you cannot find yours, tell us when you call and we will find a way into the line.

Is it worth a camera look before buying an older home?

It can be.

A sewer line is out of sight until it fails, and a look inside shows its condition.

Tell us about the home when you call.
